Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Chief Tony Bacala reports two dead following a shooting in Donaldsonville.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. APSO deputies were dispatched to a double shooting at 178 Latino Drive in Donaldsonville.  When deputies arrived they found 37-year-old Chad Nichols deceased on the front lawn of his residence, and another victim, later identified as 29-year-old Benny Booker, of 54054 Spellman Wall Road, Prairieville lying in the roadway. Booker was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later.

Chief Bacala advised that the suspects stole Bookers vehicle, 2007 white Dodge Magnum bearing Louisiana license plate YPC 682 and fled the area. Surveillance video captured the Dodge traveling at a high rate of speed through Donaldsonville following another vehicle which is also believed to be involved in the homicide.  The second vehicle appears to be a 2008-2011 white BMW 3 series vehicle.
