Juvenile arrested on voyeurism charge

An officer with the City of Gonzales Police Department was dispatched to the Reebok store in Tanger Outlet Mall, on Jan. 3, to investigate a subject who was accused of filming a female while in the dressing room.

Upon arriving, the officer made contact with the complaintant. She was visibly upset as she explained that she had been in the dressing room, trying on several pairs of shorts. She observed a cellular phone in the corner of the dressing room hidden under the seat. Upon picking up the phone, she noticed it was on record and showed her undressing.

After investigating, it was found that the cellular phone belonged to a 16 year-old employee. Prior to her entering the dressing room, the employee told the woman that he needed to clear the room. It was at this point he hid the cellular phone, leaving it on record.

Upon review of the video, the juvenile can be seen intentionally hitting the record option and placing the camera under the chair.

The juvenile was immediately arrested and the cellular phone collected for evidence.

He was booked in to the City of Gonzales Police Department on one count of video voyeurism and taken to the Assumption Parish Jail, where he remains at this time.
