Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Col. Bobby Webre is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Denham Springs man wanted on charges for purchasing a stolen antique sign and refusing to return it to authorities.

On December 11 Chad Prejean was arrested for stealing the $1500 antique sign from Tommy’s Fish House on Perkins Road in Prairieville. Prejean stated that he had sold the sign to Michael Wilkinson of Denham Springs.

Detectives interviewed Wilkinson where he admitted to purchasing the stolen sign. He advised detectives that he would return the sign by Monday morning, December 22. After several failed attempts to locate Wilkinson, detectives still haven’t received the sign, said Lt. Colonel Webre.

As a result of failing to return the stolen sign to Ascension authorities Michael Wilkinson, 39, of 24617 Walker South Road, Denham Springs, is now wanted for illegal possession of stolen things. He is also wanted by Ascension authorities on an active bench warrant for traffic violations and a criminal non-support warrant in another jurisdiction.

Anyone with whereabouts of Wilkinson is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to our anonymous tip line from any cellular device or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867). To be eligible for a cash reward, you must contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
