Two arrested for battery on a teacher in separate incidents

Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley reports the arrest of two male students in separate incidents for battery on a teacher at the Ascension Parish Alternative School on Wednesday, December 10.

A 16-year-old male was involved in an altercation with an administrator of the school regarding a violation of school policy where the student kicked and punched the administrator. He was charged with battery on a teacher and booked into the Assumption Parish Youth Detention Center.

On the same school campus, a short while later, a separate altercation involving 19-year-old Tyrone Pitts and a teacher in a classroom regarding a violation of school policy. The argument turned into a physical altercation where the teacher had to press the emergency button to call for assistance as the student rushed him and began to punch him, requiring the school security officer and another school administrator to pull Pitts off of the teacher.

Pitts was charged with battery of a teacher and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
