Texas man arrested on theft charges from Gonzales

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Major Kevin Hanna reports the arrest of Richard Meissner, 69 of Houston, Texas for theft on Thursday, December 4.

On November 16, Meissner entered the Pelican Point Golf Shop and picked up golf clubs and shoved them inside his pants leg and later returned to the store to take more. In all, Meissner stole four golf clubs totaling a value of $1,448.97.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives began an investigation and identified Meissner and obtained an arrest warrant on him. As the investigation continued, it was learned that Meissner was in the Texas area and the US Marshals then assisted with the investigation and arrested Meissner in Houston on Thursday morning. Meissner was booked in the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas where he is still incarcerated awaiting a court hearing for extradition.

Meissner has a criminal history of theft, larceny, kidnapping, robbery, and other charges dating back to 1994.
