The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division arrested a Donaldsonville and Belle Rose man on Wednesday, December 3, following a five month investigation of undercover drug purchases.

According to Lt. Col. Bobby Webre, detectives were able to purchase marijuana and cocaine on three separate occasions from Shedrick Mumphrey, 28 of Donaldsonville.

On December 3, APSO Narcotics Detectives, assisted by Gonzales Police Department, and Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives executed arrests warrants on Mumphrey and a search warrant on his residence located at 903 Martin Luther King Boulevard in Donaldsonville.  At the time of executing the search warrant on the residence, Mumphrey and Adonis Jarvis, 23, were present in the residence and were in the final process of “cooking” cocaine into crack form. Detectives also seized a large quantity of marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a pit bull dog that failed to have inoculation requirements required by the city of Donaldsonville. The street value of drugs seized is estimated at about $4,000.

Both Mumphrey and Jarvis attempted to flee from detectives but were captured after a short foot pursuit.

As a result of the foot pursuit with Jarvis a struggle ensued with Jarvis and the detective sustaining injury. Detectives found a 38 caliber revolver, heroin, and cocaine on Jarvis. Both Jarvis and the detective were treated for their injuries at a local hospital and released.

Mumphery is a known violent offender who has a previous drug arrest for cocaine and marijuana. He is currently on probation until 2018 for the previous offense.

Jarvis is also currently on probation for attempted second-degree battery until 2017 and has a history of resisting, drug related offenses, and missing court.

Shedrick Mumphrey, 28, of 903 MLK Blvd., Donaldsonville, was arrested and charged with two counts distribution of marijuana, distribution of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, inoculation tags required.
