APSO searching for Darrell Dunn for shoplifting and battery on a police officer
Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Darrell Dunn for shoplifting from a local store in Donaldsonville on Saturday, November 29.
According to Major Kevin Hanna deputies responded to the store in reference to a subject shoplifting. When the deputy arrived on scene the shoplifting suspect, identified as Darrell Dunn, was observed leaving as a passenger in a vehicle. The deputy stopped the vehicle at which time the driver complied and stepped out. As the deputy was in the process of taking Dunn into custody he scrambled to the driver’s seat and attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle. However, the deputy successfully removed Dunn from the vehicle as the struggle ensued. As the deputy attempted to cuff Dunn he managed to slip out of his jacket and flee on foot.
Fortunately, the deputy only encountered minor injuries, but sustained damage to his eye glasses and uniform.
Dunn also resisted arrest from a previous incident approximately one month ago where he fled on foot during a traffic stop.
Darrell Dunn, 38, of 3098 Stewart Lane, Donaldsonville, is wanted on theft, battery on an officer, resisting arrest, and damage to property. He is also wanted by Baton Rouge Police for simple burglary.
According to Major Kevin Hanna, Dunn has a criminal history that consists of a number of felonies and resisting arrest charges dating back to 2003.
