St. Amant man arrested on home invasion charges
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Chad Babin for home invasion and other charges on Sunday, November 30.
Deputies responded to 11168 Martin Road in Gonzales in reference to a possible home invasion. Upon arrival deputies observed Babin lying on his stomach in the living room of the residence being held down by four males at gunpoint.
Deputies began an investigation and learned that Babin pulled into the driveway of the residence as the female of the resident was unloading items from her vehicle. Babin then began cursing at her and stated she was going inside the residence with her. He then grabbed her and she began screaming for her husband to help. The husband along with her son and other friends of the family were able to detain Babin until deputies arrived on scene.
According to Lt. Col. Webre, Babin was hit in the head with one of the homeowner’s guns and suffered a laceration above his right eye. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
