Natchitoches – Prospective students and their parents will have an opportunity to learn more about the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts on Monday, Nov. 10, when the school hosts its annual Exploration Day.

The event is for sixth to 12th grade students. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in the lobby of the High School Building.

Exploration Day is held twice yearly and is designed to give an overview of the academic, social and residential life programs that LSMSA offers. The winter Exploration Day will be held on Monday, Jan. 19.

Representatives from each discipline including English, history, math, science, foreign languages, sports and arts will be available to speak with parents and answer questions. There will also be tours of the campus led by Student Ambassadors.

Prospective students are encouraged to attend classes while parents participate in sessions presented by the Counseling Center, Academic Affairs, Finance and Operations, Student Services and other departments.

“Exploration Day is designed for students and parents to experience LSMSA in a personal way, to experience what we mean by a living-learning community,” said Michael Thorp, director of institutional advancement. “We encourage prospective students to sit in on classes that interest them while parents learn about our academic and residential life programs.”
