2014 Veteran’s Parade set for Nov. 9 in Gonzales

The Ascension Veteran’s Association is hosting the 2014 Veteran’s Day Parade on Sunday, Nov. 9 on Irma Blvd. in Gonzales at 2 p.m.

Staging for participants and floats will begin at 1 p.m.

The parade route for the parade will be from Irma Blvd. to Worthey to Cornerview and back to Irma.

This year, parade throws will be allowed and encouraged.  Beads can be purchased from any source. Children and Scout groups with wagons and bikes allowed with pre-registration only.

Veterans groups, including, Ascension Parish Homeland Security, Vietnam Veterans Association, VFW, American Legion, ROTC, school groups and others will take part in the parade. We hope to preregister 15 floats to ensure have enough room on local floats for all local veterans to “step on and ride” on a float.  

Now recruiting Marching Groups, Marching Bands, Scout Groups, Floats, Classic Car Clubs, Motorcycle Clubs, Riding Clubs, Companies and local Mardi Gras Krewes to help us fill the parade with excitement.

The 2014 Veterans Parade is dedicated to all veterans past and present.  Parade entries should represent the patriotic theme and all decorations should be done with the dignity and respect our Veterans and the U.S. Flag have earned.

The Parade Committee reserves the right to reject any entry that is deemed not in good taste, inappropriate or not in the best interests of the event.  All participants are responsible to ensure that the design and operation of their entry is safe and reliable.

Your completed, signed, and submitted Application Form is your acceptance of, on behalf of your entry and all your entry's participants, all AVA Veterans Parade Rules and Regulations.
