GONZALES – Residents of Ascension Parish and the region enjoyed balloon glows, carnival rides, music and more during the two-day 2014 Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival which ended with a positive cash flow, said Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez.

Preliminary estimates show a total of around 50,000 people attended the two-day festival on the grounds of Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

“By ending on the positive side, this paves the way for us to continue planning for another successful balloon festival in 2015,” President Martinez said. “Our numbers are preliminary numbers because we are still collecting revenues from some of the vendors we partnered with during the festival.”

President Martinez thanked the entire community for supporting this event and making it a success.

“It is and has been the largest event held in Ascension Parish and I also want to thank our volunteers, and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Gonzales Police Department for all the work they did during this festival.”
