APSO: Sex Offender arrested on aggravated rape charges
Albert Fleming, 30, of 35160 Highway 1 North, Donaldsonville, was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies were dispatched to a residence in Donaldsonville after witnesses advised deputies that they found Fleming engaging in an illegal act with a 14-year-old juvenile.
According to Chief Deputy Tony Bacala, deputies learned that Fleming is a registered sex offender in Ascension Parish and had previously been convicted of forcible rape and categorized as a Tier III sex offender who is required to register with Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Division on a quarterly basis where he is up to date with his requirements.
Detectives arrived on scene and took over the investigation and learned that a 14-year-old juvenile had fallen asleep on the floor of a residence where she visited regularly some time after midnight. Somewhere during the night, Fleming arrived at the residence and went in the living room where the juvenile was asleep, a short time later witnesses said they saw Fleming engaging in illegal acts with the juvenile. As he was being questioned by witnesses, he exited the residence to a nearby location where he was later detained by deputies.
As the investigation continued, it was learned that Fleming may have engaged in illegal sexual acts with the juvenile on more than one occasion at different locations against her will.
Albert Fleming was arrested and charged with two counts aggravated rape due to sexual activity having been reported at two different locations. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
Fleming has a criminal history dating back to 2006 on simple rape, forcible rape, drugs, simple assault, and violating his probation.
This case is still under investigation and more charges may be pending, said Chief Bacala.
