Drugs, Thousands of dollars seized in APSO drug investigation

On September 22, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, along with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a joint operation on a large scale methamphetamine dealer operating from Ascension Parish, said Chief Tony Bacala of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. 

APSO Narcotics Detectives with the assistance of East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives made arrangements to purchase a large quantity of methamphetamine from Donald Sanford, 36, at his residence, located at 8210 Pond Street, Lot 8, in Sorrento.

Detectives then executed a search warrant on Sanford’s residence where Sanford was present, along with his wife Chelsea, and four-year-old child. The child was released to the next of kin. Detectives located a large quantity of methamphetamine, four handguns, two bulletproof vests, a quantity of marijuana, methamphetamine pipes, several scales, and $92,961 in cash.

Chief Bacala said that narcotics detectives also seized a 2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 truck, a 2009 Acura TSX, and a Yamaha 4-wheeler.

Donald Sanford, 36, of 8210 Pond Street, lot 8, Sorrento, was arrested and charged with distribution of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, four counts illegal carrying of weapons, illegal use of CDS in presence of person under 17, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts illegal possession of body armor, and four counts possession of firearms by convicted felon.

Donald Sanford has a lengthy criminal history dating back since 1996. He has been arrested 13 times on charges of robbery, battery, burglary, weapons charges, drugs, stalking, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and failure to appear in court.

Chelsea Sanford, 22, of 8210 Pond Street, lot 8, Sorrento, was arrested and charged with principal to distribution of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, four counts illegal carrying of weapons, illegal use of CDS in presence of person under 17, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts illegal possession of body armor. Chelsea Sanford has no prior criminal history.

Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on September 22 where no bond has been set yet.
