Gonzales PD arrests Pharmacy Tech for stealing substances from CVS

Gonzales Police Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken reports on the evening of September 16, 2014, Gonzales Officers were summoned to CVS Pharmacy located at the corner La. 44 and Airline Highway. Officers met with a CVS loss prevention officer whom had conducted an internal audit and discovered that a Pharmacy Tech working for CVS, identified as Shantrell T. Landry, 35 years of age, 6128 hwy. 44 Convent, La., had been stealing two different forms of controlled dangerous substances from the pharmacy. The internal investigation revealed Landry had stolen 6,000 hydrocodone 7.5 mg tablets and 700 Alprazolam 2mg tablets during her short tenure at CVS.

Gonzales investigators arrested Landry after her admission of the fraudulent activity associated with the thefts of the medications and also learned she was selling the regulated medications to what she described as “street level dealers” earning her over $20,000 in illegal drug sale proceeds. The matter is still being investigated.

 Landry has been charged with 1 count of felony theft in excess of $750 1 count of Distribution of Sch II CDS, and 1 count of Distribution of Sch IV CDS. Landry has been booked into Ascension Parish Prison on the above charges and is awaiting bond consideration.
