Be jolly, it’s Holley Day

Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux and the city council proclaimed Aug. 24, 2015 as Cole Holley Day in the City of Gonzales. The proclamation came Monday night at the City Council meeting, where the mayor also presented Holley with a key to the City of Gonzales.
Holley, a senior at East Ascension High School, was elected president of the National Beta Club for 2014-2015 school year at the National Beta Convention in Richmond, Va. Holley has 4.3 grade point average and is a member of the Spartans baseball team, along with many other affiliations, accolades and achievements.
Beta is an organization that promotes leadership, academic achievement, and character. Holley campaigned under the slogan, “Be jolly, vote Holley.”
Holley is the first Ascension Parish student to serve as National President and State President of Beta.
“I put this on the agenda tonight because not too often we get someone locally that is not only the state president but also the national president,” Mayor Arceneaux said.
