Nat Stephens Announces Candidacy for Ascension Parish School Board District 3

Nat Stephens, Process Technician of Rubicon Chemical and Chief of Geismar Volunteer Fire Department, announced his candidacy for Ascension Parish School Board, District 3 today. Chief Stephens 61, is a lifelong resident of Geismar and Democrat.

Stephens, a product of Ascension Parish Schools is a 1971 graduate of East Ascension High School and a 1975 graduate of Grambling State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Arts Education.

"I am pleased and honored to announce my candidacy for Ascension Parish School Board.  As a firefighter, first responder, fire board commissioner, and community activist; I gleaned an understanding of how local government works. I have people skills that can be used to bring people together toward common goals. These experiences will enable me to help the school system maintain its high level of excellence."

"My role as school board member is to be an advocate for the parents, children, and citizens of District 3. A school board member should be committed to its constituents.  I enter this race with a unwavering commitment to excellence.

As a school board candidate, I advocate for:

Safe and Secure Schools and Classrooms, 

Maintenance of Equitable Pay for Employees,

Continued Smart Growth Approach for identifying areas for new schools,

Cutting Edge Technology for students and teachers

Increased Parental and Family Involvement
