The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office found Brandon Augusta’s body along the levee on Aug. 14 and confirmed on Monday it was indeed the 15-year-old’s body.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Monday the body found along the levee in Donaldsonville on the afternoon of Aug. 14 was that of 15-year-old Brandon Augusta, who was reported missing on Aug. 10.

Sheriff Jeff Wiley said the death is being investigated as a homicide, but the APSO hasn’t revealed how the teen was killed. Detectives said last week that the body had suffered blunt-force trauma to the head and foul play is suspected.

The body was found while a man was mowing grass on the Donaldsonville levee and noticed an odor of decay, according to the APSO, the man called 911 and deputies arrived, canvassed the area and found the body.

After severe decomposition, the APSO said it had to use dental records to confirm if indeed it was that of Augusta.

The APSO is still investigating the death and asks anyone with information is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to our anonymous tip line from any cellular device or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
