Gonzales Police Department is searching for Royal Rosspeal Johnson, 24, of 353 W. Johnson St. Baton Rouge in connection with a July 16 morning report of shots being fired into an occupied residence on Hamilton Street in Gonzales. The multiple shots fired at the residence, suspected as being done by Johnson, was a direct result of a verbal altercation with the occupants of the targeted residence, which had occurred just prior to the shots being fired.  Johnson whom was across the street at a female acquaintance’s residence escalated the situation by brandishing a firearm and then firing into the residence, where the other party of the verbal altercation had retreated to. Inside of the residence were six occupants ranging in ages from one year to 27 years of age. Gonzales Investigators have determined that at least four shots were fired during this event, three of which passed through the exterior walls to the interior of the residence where the occupants were located. No injuries to any of the occupants were reported.

On July 18, 2014 an arrest warrant was secured for Royal Johnson on the charges of six counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of illegal discharge of a firearm inside city limits.
