Gonzales Police Detective Derek LeBlanc and his partner Alyssa Kling danced a number that couldn’t be forgotten or overlooked at the ARC of East Ascension’s Dancing for a Cause fundraiser Saturday at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. The duo performed a lindy hop routine as it eventually claimed the 2014 Dancing for a Cause title, by being voted with the Judges’ Choice Award.

Dancing for a Cause is a creative fundraising event that supports the programmatic efforts of The ARC of Ascension (COEA). It is modeled after the ABC’s television show, Dancing with the Stars. The local event features many of the community’s leaders as they present their dance performances on the event night. All benefits go towards COEA (The Arc of East Ascension) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities in our community.
