Open House for new Ascension School set for Saturday

The Church Academy is hosting open house on Saturday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ascension Parish is already known for its strong educational system, and now comes an addition to it: The Church Academy in St. Amant. The Church Academy is expected to open in the fall, and is hosting an open house event on July12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Head Master Jessica Robb said she and her husband had it on their hearts to start a school last October, and less than a year later it has come to fruition.

“The Church Academy’s purpose is to partner with parents to provide an excellent education with rigorous standards incorporating a Biblical Worldview,” Robb said, who has worked in the Ascension Parish Public School System.

“We just felt like we were supposed to start a school and help out this community,” she said.

The school is equipped to carry 180 students in grades pre-kindergarten to seventh with 20 students per class. As of Monday, 120 students had already enrolled.

There are also different classes and clubs the academy will offer such as rodeo, 4H, Beta, student council, sewing, and legos.

Robb said at Saturday’s open house, all are welcome to attend and added there is no obligation to register. There will be games, door prizes, and refreshments. They are also giving away iPads, kindles, and TCA products.

“Just anything to bring people in and have a good time Saturday,” Robb said.

TCA will have an athletic department led by Kenny Gautreaux and will include sports flag football, basketball and volleyball where the school will compete against five other schools in the state that make up a district.

The school is located at 13423 Highway 431 in St. Amant, La. 70774. For more information call (225) 644-0553.
