GONZALES – Susan G. Komen® Baton Rouge will host its annual Ascension Pink Ribbon Scramble Thursday, July 10 at Pelican Point Golf Club.  The event features a 4-person scramble, live auction, survivor tribute, and more.  This year’s Survivors’ Breakfast is sponsored by Pro Sold Reality. Teams can register online at www.komenbatonrouge.org or by contacting the Affiliate’s office at (225) 246-2977.  Space is limited, and participants are encouraged to register.

“In 2013-14 Komen Baton Rouge provided funding for 525 breast cancer screenings in Ascension Parish.  We also provide funding for clinical screenings, diagnostic services, breast health education, and medical and transportation assistance to local residents.  We would like to invite everyone out to support the Affiliate’s efforts in a day of golf and great fun.” states Angela Miller, Executive Director of Komen Baton Rouge.

Event Co-Chair, Jessica Keller, is motivated to participate with the Ascension Pink Ribbon Scramble because of the survivor support that the Affiliate has provided to her cousin Mindy LeBauve.  She shares, “I want people to know that ‘We Live Here, We Golf Here, and We Save Lives Here.’  I also want to help find the cures for my friends, my daughter and me.  I’m asking my fellow Ascension Parish residents to help me continue to save the lives of area women and men through events like the Scramble.”

Additionally, support can be provided by participation in Suzy’s Garden.  The garden is a collection of flags personalized in honor or memory of breast cancers survivors.  Flags are $15 each.  They can be purchased at the clubhouse at Pelican Point or through Komen Baton Rouge.  The flags will be placed in Suzy’s Garden at Pelican Point from now through July 13.

St. Elizabeth Hospital, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Stash Photography, CF Industries, Dawson Interprizes, EATEL, and The Cabin Restaurant sponsor this year’s event.  There are also many other generous donors contributing to the live auction.  Live auction items can be viewed on the Komen Baton Rouge website at www.komenbatonrouge.org.

Also, joining the event are the distinguished Honorary Chairpersons:

Tommy Martinez, Ascension Parish President

Barney Arceneaux, Gonzales Mayor

Jenny Heroman, Community Coordinator for EATEL
