United Way Day of Action set for Arc of East Ascension

STAFF REPORT @WeeklyCitizen

Volunteers from the Capital Area United Way, Methanex, ExxonMobil, and other corporate and community individuals staff as volunteers will collaborate on June 20 to bring more than 170 individuals to participate in the seventh annual United Way Day of Action. The event, sponsored locally by ExxonMobil, will include hands-on projects at area schools and Capital Area United Way Community Partner Agencies. Methanex has taken ownership of two projects in Ascension Parish and will provide employees as volunteers at the Donaldsonville Arc and Arc of East Ascension.

The project work time at the Arc of East Ascension is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at 1122 S E Ascension Complex Blvd., Gonzales, sponsored by Methanex Corp. and its employees. The project includes sanding and painting various outside parts of the building as well as sanding and painting three picnic tables.

At United Way, volunteering is a big part of the solution.

“From teenagers participating in summer community service projects in the United Way Youth Volunteer Corps, to college students actively engaged in social change efforts through Student United Way, to individuals and corporate teams coming together as readers, tutors, and mentors or during one of our three annual Days of Service, you become a critical asset of human capital through the leverage of your time and talent,” said Kendall Hebert, Senior Director, Communications and Marketing.

“In all, Capital Area United Way is giving our community an opportunity to be part of the solution,” Hebert said.
