The Canary Islanders Heritage Society held a Día del la Cruz (day of the cross) celebration on May 3 at the Louisiana State Archives, 3851 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The commemoration included traditional Canary Islander foods and cross decoration activities emulating the traditional celebration as it is performed in the Islands today, a practice that dates back to Emperor Constantine of the 4th Century, AD.
