Undercover investigation leads to an arrest of a Gonzales woman

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Tony Bacala reports one arrest following an undercover investigation into illegal narcotics activity in Gonzales.

On April 9, the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted an undercover operation in which they arranged for Karen Marchand to deliver a quantity of hydrocodone pills to them in an undisclosed local Shopping Center.  Narcotics Detectives then set up surveillance in the parking lot to await the arrival of Karen Marchand.

When Karen Marchand arrived, Narcotics Detectives approached her vehicle.  While speaking with her, she was found to be in possession of 30 hydrocodone pills. 

She advised Narcotics Detectives that she was there to sell a quantity of her pain pills to another subject. 

Karen Marchand, 50, of 44079 Loop Road, Prairieville, was arrested April 9 and charged with attempted distribution of schedule II CDS and possession with intent to distribute schedule II CDS. She was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.
