Fourth Felony Offender Found Guilty of Armed Robbery

Gonzales, Louisiana, February 28, 2014:   

After waiving his right to a trial by jury, Dean Favron, DOB:  06/11/1983 of 8614 Hitchcock Dr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana was found guilty as charged by the Honorable Alvin Turner, Jr. of a July 20, 2010 Armed Robbery at the Gonzales Garden Apartments, in Gonzales, Louisiana.  Favron approached the victim as he entered his vehicle to go to work at 3:31 a.m., pointed a .357 Magnum Revolver at the victim, demanding his money.  The victim turned over the $4.00 he had in his wallet to Favron.  Favron then demanded the victim’s car keys while the victim was still held at gunpoint.  The victim complied and Favorn drove off in the victim’s vehicle.  Gonzales Police Department and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office were contacted and both agencies work in conjunction in attempting to apprehend Favron as he fled through the streets of Gonzales.  Favron was pursued, stopped and a foot pursuit ensued at the Fountain Lake Apartments on Orice Roth Rd.  Favron was finally discovered hiding behind air conditioner units between some of the apartments.  He was found to have shed most of the clothing that he wore during the robbery during the foot pursuit; however, officers were able to retrieve the clothing and other evidence linking him to the crime during their investigation.     

Favorn is a now a fifth felony offender, having previous convictions for unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling, two (2) counts of carjacking, aggravated assault of a police officer and simple burglary in both East and West Baton Rouge Parish.  Favron faces up to ninety-nine (99) years on the Armed Robbery charge and could be sentenced as a Habitual Offender.  He was remanded to the Ascension Parish Jail pending sentencing. Judge Turner ordered a pre-sentence investigation and will sentence Favrorn upon completion of the report. First Assistant District Attorney, Larry Buquoi prosecuted the case for the State and Shannon Battiste represented Favron.
