GONZALES – With streaming video, online gaming, video and photo sharing, and social networking requiring more high-speed bandwidth than ever, EATEL is responding to consumers’ needs by increasing both download and upload speeds for customers connected to EATEL’s fiber network. Ultimate High-Speed Internet plan customers now have download speeds up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds up to 40 Mbps, and Premium High-Speed Internet plan customers have download speeds up to 50 Mbps and upload speeds up to 25 Mbps. EATEL's Standard, Lite, and Essential High-Speed Internet plans’ speeds have been increased as well. A complete list of EATEL’s new speeds is provided at

Bandwidth is increasingly important as the amount of streaming video and user-generated content on the Internet continues to skyrocket. In addition, users rely on greater speeds to participate in online gaming – now also in HD – or upload HD videos to bandwidth-intensive Web sites, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Vine. Increased Internet speeds also make online backup quicker and more convenient.

"With the whole family online these days, it’s no secret to anyone that our customers’ bandwidth needs have substantially increased over the last few years," said Toby Dubois, EATEL’s Chief Marketing Officer. "The average number of web-enabled devices (smart phones, tablets, e-readers, laptops) per U.S. household is estimated at nearly six devices per household. The vast capacity of our fiber-to-the-home network allows us to continue to meet and exceed our customers’ everyday needs and positions us for whatever bandwidth needs our customers require for years to come.”

EATEL was the first company in Louisiana to provide phone, Internet and TV over an all-fiber network that offers a broad array of integrated digital services. EATEL most recently launched its innovative TV service, LightWave TV, which provides advanced features such as Multi-Room DVR, remote DVR scheduling and more HD channels. Founded in 1935, EATEL recently entered its 79th year as a service provider and business leader in Ascension and Livingston Parishes. To learn more about EATEL, visit
