Baton Rouge, LA – There were 127 brave souls who plunged this past Saturday at Cabela’s for the 6th Annual “Freezin’ for a Reason” Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Louisiana fundraiser. 

The event took place on Saturday, February 22, 2014, and started at 9:00am at the Cabela’s lake in Gonzales, LA.  Hundreds of people came out to watch and enjoy the music and food. There were 127 people who raised cold hard cash to jump into the 30 degree water. These people came together to raise $50,000 for Special Olympics Louisiana programs!

Special Olympics Louisiana (SOLA) is a state-wide organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. SOLA offers year-round programs for 13,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in all 64 parishes with the help of 14,000 volunteers. We have health, education, leadership, family, training and sports programs for people beginning at age 2 and there is no upper age limit. There is no cost to participate in Special Olympics.
