City Council to consider roll-forward on millages

The increase would benefit the city's general fund, as well as the dire department, according to City Clerk/Finance Director Clay Stafford.

According to the notice, the council will "consider leyyng additional or increased millage rates without further approval or adopting the adjusted millage rate after reassessment and rolling forward to a millage rate not to exceed the prior year's maximum.

If approved, the fire department millage increase would generate an additional $358,366.14. The amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $1,098.27,the notice stated.

The estimated amount of tax revenue to be collected in  the next year for the City of Gonzales general found from the increased millage would be $578,642.73. The amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $1,096.21.
