Gonzales City Council approves rezoning for Fortune 500 company

The Gonzales City Council voted 3-1 Monday night to rezone a residential area that will enable a Fortune 500 company to set up a regional headquarter facility in the city.

The measure will allow the rezoning of land near the corner of West Orice Roth Road and Veterans Boulevard, just adjacent to a residential subidivision.

The vote paved the way for Emerson to build a facilty that will include a flow lab and AMS lab. It will be the first regional headquarter facility of a Fortune 500 company in Gonzales.

Council members Ronald "Joe" Waguespack, John Cagnolatti and Kirk Boudreaux voted in favor of the motion.

Terrance Irvin opposed the meaasure.

Councilman Kenny Matassa was absent.
