Ellender, D.J. 

A resident of Dutchtown and native of Lake Arthur, he died April 25, 2012. He was 72. Memorial was held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, April 27.

Hernandez Jr., Linden P.

A resident of Baker and native of Donaldsonville, he died Monday April 30, 2012 at 2:55 am at his residence in Baker at the age of 92. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII aboard the USS Brown serving in the Pacific. An Electrician, he was retired after working over 38 years at Exxon. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker. 

LeBlanc, Joseph David "J.D."

Born March 2, 1934, a lifelong resident of Sorrento, he died of cancer on Sunday, April, 29, 2012 at 8:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake RMC. He was 78 years old. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 2, at Household of Faith, Gonzales,. Burial in church cemetery. 

Martine, Marie Teresa

A lifetime resident of Burnside, she passed away Friday, April 27, 2012. She was born Nov. 13, 1927. She was 84 years old and a retired social worker for LA Office of Family Services and Prevost Hospital. Entombment in Ascension Catholic Church Mausoleum in Donaldsonville.

Pizzolato, Rita Legendre

Rita Legendre Pizzolato "Ma-Ma Rita", age 93, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Baton Rouge. She was native and resident of Donaldsonville. A former Homemaker and Paraprofessional Adult Educator with Ascension Parish School Board. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. Burial in the church cemetery. 

Smith, Claude Vernell

A retired veteran of the United States Army and a resident of Darrow died at 1:25 p.m. at his residence on April 18, 2012. He was 73 and a native of Modeste. A memorial celebration was held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Hopeful Baptist Church in Darrow at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Myron Jones Sr.  He is survived by his son, Lawrence Vernell Williams (Jeanette), a brother, Lauthaught A. Delaney Sr. (Robyn), a sister, Cassandra D. Smith (Darryl Sr.), one granddaughter, Latisha Dean Breaux, other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, George Smith, Josephine and John Delaney, grandparents Charles and Tempa Milton, and a sister Deloris Quinn Williams.

 He was a member of Hiram Lodge #12, F&AM and the Ascension Parish Branch of the NAACP.  His remains were donated to the Department of Health and Hospitals, Bureau of Anatomical Services in New Orleans. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Derrick Spell, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice for their kindness and service. Smith, Terry L. "Smitty" 

A native of Erie, PA and resident of Prairieville, he died on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 12:36 p.m. at The Carpenter House at the age of 61. He was an employee of the Baton Rouge Food Bank. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Antioch Baptist Church, Baton Rouge. A private inurnment was held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. 

Walton , Amanda Leigh "Mandi"

She lost her life at the age of 19, on April 26, 2012 in a tragic car accident.  Visitation was held at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Wednesday, May 2. Visitation continues on Thursday, May 3,  at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 Hwy. 621, Gonzales from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Internment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Williams, Ronald Kenneth

A native of Arkansas and resident of Gonzales, he passed away at his home on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the age of 62. He was president and co-owner of Gonzales Industrial X-Ray for 25 years. Entombment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, Gonzales.
