Editorial: New Weekly Citizen Editor says ‘Hello’
I thought I’d introduce myself to you all. My name is Lisa Yates, and I am the new editor at Gonzales Weekly Citizen.
Although I’ve been in Gonzales for only a week now, I’ve already witnessed what a vibrant community we have here. Perhaps because Gonzales is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, strategically located between our state capital Baton Rouge and world-famous New Orleans. I am excited to be here and I look forward to meeting more of you in the weeks and months to come.
Let me start by thanking you for reading Gonzales Weekly Citizen. Readership and public involvement are the lifeblood of this newspaper. So please continue sending write-ups, photos, story ideas and calendar listings for both our print and online publications.
My goal from the editor’s desk is to not only increase feedback of Weekly Citizen, but also to get more people involved and engaged in our community. So I appreciate any help residents can provide by sending submissions on local people and events.
It is my understanding that previous editor Charlotte Guedry - now Ascension Parish Tourism Director - did an outstanding job with this and there are some big shoes to fill.
Perhaps a good way to begin is by sharing my contact information. You can reach me at the number listed in the paper: (225) 644-6397, or via e-mail at email@example.com.
Typically, I will be in the office during regular business hours. However as my schedule comes together, expect to find me spending considerable time in the community writing about the people and places that make this area unique.
I want to get your thoughts on how the Citizen currently works and how you think it could be improved. Are there any issues that impact your day-to-day life that you’d like to see us investigate or cover more thoroughly?
Visit our Web site: www.weeklycitizen.com, and drop me a line on our FaceBook page with your comments/suggestions/thoughts - It would be great to hear from you!
