Two girls died Tuesday night when a vehicle with five passengers inside sank into a bayou near Stringer Bridge Road in St. Amant,

Raelyn Enclade, 28, of St. Amant ran off the road on the left side of a right-hand curve, according to Louisiana State Police spokesman Trooper Russell Graham.

Three Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies dove into the water in hopes of saving the girls, but could not get into the car.

The attempts continued for a half-hour before rescue divers tried to save the girls.

At the scene, paramedics tried to revive two of the four girls, but the two were later pronounced dead.

The two girls were identified at Raelyn Enclade's children, Faith, 9, and Patiene, 7.

Two other girls survived after being pulled from the water.

Officials did not release the names of the two girls who survived.

Authorities do not suspect impairment, but a blood sample was sent to the Louisiana Crime Lab as a standard part of the procedure.
