He passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. He was born Oct. 7, 1944. Burial in Oak Lane Memorial Park.

Bailey, Vergus M.

A homemaker, she died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at her home in Donaldsonville. She was 65 and a native of Paincourtville. Interment in Protestant Cemetery, Donaldsonville. She was a graduate of W.H. Reed High School.

LeBouef, Alexander John

A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Christmas Eve in a tragic automobile accident at age 24. Born March 12, 1987, Alex was a native of Gonzales, and worked as a nitrogen technician at Praxair Services Inc., Gonzales. He enjoyed animals, always rescuing those in need, and served as a foster parent for Cat Haven in Baton Rouge. He attended St. Theresa of Avila School in Gonzales and graduated from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, where he was a member of the school band and was voted MVP of the Bowling Team. He was a member of The Boy Scouts of America, Pack and Troop 65 in Gonzales. Entombment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum, Gonzales.

LaBauve, Ronnie

He passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. He was a retired welder out of the Local 198, a native of Central and resident of Gonzales. Interment in Stevens Cemetery, Gonzales.

Rush, Corean Sasser

Funeral services for Mrs. Corean Sasser Rush were at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 in Lonestar Baptist Church, Hineston, with Rev. Webb Robinson officiating. Interment followed in Lonestar Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mrs. Rush, 90, of Gonzales, entered eternal rest on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 in her residence. Corean was a member of Ascension Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Rush; three brothers, Lee Sasser, Charlie Sasser and Earl Sasser; and four sisters, Dorothy Sasser, Jessie Robinson, Bea Jewell and Bonnie Tanner. Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include two sons, Keith Rush and his wife, Sandi and Dwight Rush, all of Gonzales; one daughter, Darlene Rush of Houma; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Baham, Alfred J.

A native of Folsom and a resident of Gonzales, he passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the age of 84. He served in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. He was retired from General Electric where he served as a department manager. He was the present owner of B&B Body Shop in Gonzales.  Entombment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, Gonzales. =

Batiste, Ray Dennis “Bo”

A cook, resident and native of Donaldsonville, he died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. He was 56. Interment in Protestant Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

Boudreaux, Richard J.

Richard J. Boudreaux, a resident of Baton Rouge, former longtime resident of Donaldsonville and native of Labadieville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at age 77. He retired from Dow Chemical and was an Army veteran. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Chustz Jr., Joseph A. “Bubba”

A native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Gonzales, he passed away on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. He was 61 and retired from ExxonMobile where he worked as an operator for 39 years. Memorial gathering at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 10:30 a.m. until memorial service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum, Prairieville.

Daigle, Hazel White

A retired teacher in the Orleans Parish school system, a native of Hammond, a resident of Gonzales and a former resident of New Orleans, she passed away in Gonzales on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. Visitation at First Baptist Church in Gonzales on Thursday, Jan. 5, from 9:30 a.m. until religious service at 11:30 a.m. Burial at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Gonzales. She was the first blind student to graduate from Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, graduating third in her class. In addition, she was certified in elementary and special education. She was a volunteer at the Louisiana State Library, section for the blind, for 20 years. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Gonzales, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, American Council of the Blind, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and the Ascension Community Singers.

Fatherree, Robert Joseph “Bob”

Robert Joseph “Bob” Fatherree, 54, passed away peacefully into the hands of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. Bob was born in Stillwater, Okla., and raised in Gonzales. He graduated from East Ascension High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond. Bob was a member of New River Masonic Lodge 402, F.&A.M., Gonzales. He was also a proud 36-year member and officer of Pipeliners Local Union 798, Tulsa, Okla. Bob was one of three children born to Colleen Fatherree and the late Claude Allen “Bo” Fatherree. Bob will forever be remembered by his proud and loving brother and sister, Tim Fatherree and Shannon Forte; sister-in-law, Darlene Fatherree; and brother-in-law, Roger Forte. Survived by his children, Emily Fatherree and Shelley Fatherree. Special gratitude to his countless friends who have offered prayers and positive wishes for Bob. Bob touched the lives of so many and always saw the best there was in all people, friends and strangers alike. He never passed up a chance to extend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. The family is planning a small private service. Galloway, William James “Billy”

William James “Billy” Galloway passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Ascension Oaks Nursing Home. He was 86, born in Canton Miss., and reared in Baton Rouge. He served his country as a SeaBee in World War II. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 35 years. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Gautreau, James Harold

James Harold Gautreau, 81, a native and lifelong resident of Gonzales, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Burial in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rogers during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years. He was the retired owner of Gautreau Ace Hardware in Gonzales.

Gomez, Lucy Mae Landry

She passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at her residence in Prairieville. Visitation was at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, on Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and was move to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Brusly, for Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m.

Granier Jr., Albert Joseph

A resident of French Settlement, he died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at his home. He was 63 and a native of Darrow. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church of French Settlement on Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m.

Holcomb, Eugene Howard “Gene”

He was a retired ammonia production manager with Allied Chemical, Geismar, who after retirement, worked as an internationally known consultant in ammonia fertilizer production. A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Dawes, W.Va., he died of natural causes at his home at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at age 91. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Holton, Gwin Percell “Trigger / PawPaw Grump”

A native of Lake and resident of Gonzales, he passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at the age of 76.  Interment in Carpenter's Chapel Church Cemetery.

Kelly, Rev. Willie Lee

A medical assistant, resident of Donaldsonville, former resident of Minneapolis and native of Plaquemine, he died at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 42. Interment in Homestead Cemetery, Plaquemine.

Lucas, Margerie Landry “Maw-Maw Lucas”

Margerie Landry Lucas, “Maw-Maw Lucas,” 93, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. Born on Oct. 22, 1918, in Gonzales, Margerie moved to Ponchatoula at age six where she spent her childhood. Her professional career was spent working for the Louisiana State Board of Mineral Resources for 30-plus years. Visitation was at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Catholic services beginning at 8 p.m. There will be a private family interment to follow at a later date.

Maloy, Terrence M. “Terry”

A resident of French Settlement, he died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at his residence. He was 68. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and retired instrument technician. He was a member of Local 198. Visitation was held at Fellowship Church in Prairieville on Friday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at noon.

Mayers, Gabriel J.

Gale McAdams Rich, born Aug. 2, 1947, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at 1 p.m. She worked for Groth Equipment Corp. of Louisiana in Geismar for the past 6 years. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Sykes, Jinnie Marie “Lil Jinnie”

A resident of Prairieville, she died of lung cancer on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 52 and a native of Independence. Interment in Life Church of Ascension Cemetery.
