Gonzales Chief of Police issues reminder for driving in heavy fog

Gonzales Chief of Police Sherman Jackson has asked to remind parish and city residents to use their lights when driving in foggy conditions, such as those of this morning.

"Using low beams can make all the difference when driving in heavy fog," he said. "Other drivers need to be able to see you, and by having your lights on, not only can they see you coming, but the possibility of trafffic accidents is greatly decreasd."

Jackson said that high beams are actually not recommended, as they can, "be more of a distraction to other drivers."

As Ascension has had a spate of heavy fog in the mornings, and more are expected, Jackson states, "Please be responsible, and keep your lights on low."
