East Ascension's Chase Rivett signs with LSU

Playing baseball at LSU has been a lifelong goal for East Ascension standout Chase Rivett.
He achieved it Wednesday when he officially signed with the Tigers as his teammates looked on in the school library.
"This is something I've waited for my whole life," Rivett said. "It's a dream come true."
As Gonzales is a short trip to Baton Rouge, he said living on campus versus staying at home was a consideration.
Rivett has played outfield and pitched for the Spartans over the years. He also starred early on as quarterback for the football team before focusing on baseball.
"This is my senior year," said Rivett, who has his sights set on a state championship before moving on to LSU. "I'm going to leave it all on the field this year. My main goal is to come back with a ring."
New East Ascension head coach Mike Toups called Rivett's signing a great accomplishment.
"It's not about luck," Toups said, referring to the sacrifice of hard work and dedication necessary to reach such a goal.
