WEEKEND WEATHER FOR ASCENSION: Perfect for football, gumbo, outdoor activities

Skies will remain mostly cloudy today after a line of thunderstorms brought cooler temperatures to Ascension Parish, but Saturday and Sunday will bring gorgeous weather to the area.

No rain is expected throughout the weekend.

Highs on Friday will reach the mid-60s. Game-time temperatures will be in the mid to upper 50s when St. Amant meets Catholic at Olympia Field, Dutchtown’s battle against McKinley at Memorial Stadium and East Ascension’s visit to Woodlawn High School. The overnight low will drop to 40.

Skies turn most sunny Saturday with daytime highs in the mid-60s. Game-time will be clear with temperatures in the upper 50s for the 5:30 p.m. kickoff of Southern University’s homecoming game against Alcorn State at A.W. Mumford Stadium.

Temperatures will reach the lower 70s Sunday, with an overnight low around 40.
