St. Amant tops McKinley

ST. AMANT – The St. Amant Gators won their first District 5-5A game of the season in style Friday night.
The homestanding Gators scored six touchdowns to pace a 45-13 victory over McKinley at The Pit.
St. Amant (5-3, 1-2) rode the rushing of Cameron Morris and Alexis Jackson, who each scored a pair of touchdowns as the Gators racked up over 280 yards. Morris opened the game with a 2-yard touchdown run, then added another from two yards out later in the first. He ran for over 100 yards, while Jackson added almost 90.
McKinley (3-5, 1-2) found a spark in Lenard Tillery, who ran for over 100 yards but was limited after an injury.
St. Amant will travel to Baton Rouge Friday night for a district match against Catholic. The Gators will close the regular season at home against rival East Ascension.
