School Board invites all to meeting
The Ascension Parish Public School System is working hard to maintain our designation of District Accreditation with SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accreditation division of AdvancEd). In 2006 the Ascension Parish School System became the first school district in the region to earn the prestigious District Accreditation designation. This rigorous accreditation credentialing process requires review for renewal every five years.
From October 23-26 we welcomed a team comprised of both out-of-state and in-state evaluators. These evaluators traveled throughout the district to visit our schools, meet our faculties, and review our instructional programs. Although this comprehensive process required an intense effort, it provides us with an in-depth overview of our school system and a road map for future improvement goals.
We ask that you please join us on October 26 as part of the assessment process, as SACS evaluators will discuss the district and provide their report on the “state of our school system.” The board meeting will be held at 1 p.m. in the B. C. Alwes Auditorium located at 501 Lee Avenue in Donaldsonville. The meeting is open to the public.
The renewal of our academic credentials is vital to the continued success of our school system. We are confident that the results of the accreditation will positively reflect the school improvement efforts made in our educational strategies and processes as well as our school buildings and facilities.
