Project Kidz Kove recently applied for a “Worthy Cause” grant from the Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation.

When word came that PKK was accepted for an award of a $50,000 grant, there was much excitement. On hand to make the presentation was Mr. J. H. Martin, Chairman of the BRSFF.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of PKK, members present thanked Mr. Martin for helping them with their very “worthy” cause. “We are always working and planning on how to raise funds to get us to that initial goal of $750,000.

With sizeable grant awards like this, we will soon be able to build Kidz Kove Discovery Park and give all our kids a safe place to play,” stated Stacey Bumpus, PKK board president.

Mayor Arceneaux, also in attendance, gave the group more good news that plans are really starting to come together to prepare the site for the building of the park once fundraising is complete.

Grant proposals are sent in to the BRSFF online and Board members review proposals, deciding which are awarded.

Funds for the grants come from the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair.

Mr. Martin stated that Ascension Parish people play a major part in the success of the fair by their large numbers of attendance each year.
