Basketball: The City of Gonzales will begin registration for the basketball league.

The dates are Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12 at Gonzales Middle School at 1502 W. Orice Roth Road. The times will be 9 a.m.-noon. For more information, contact Dewayne Andrews at 225-223-3169 or Tyler Turner at 225-603-3159. Volunteers, coaches, referees, timekeepers and scorekeepers are needed.

Basketball: Registration for the 2012 Ascension Parish basketball program will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-noon at Galvez and Prairieville middle school gyms, Dutchtown Middle School and St. Amant Primary classrooms for boys and girls ages 6-15.

Bring a birth certificate and registration fee of $55 per child.

Baseball: The Ascension Rays are holding tryouts during the month of October for the sping/summer 2012 season.

Eligible players must be 10 years old or younger on April 30, 2012.

The Rays are looking for dedicated players committed to working hard and competing at the highest level in USSSA tournament play.

Baseball:?East Ascension is holding a three-day camp Nov. 21, 22 and 23. It will be held at the East Ascension baseball field. Children ages 5-14 are welcome. The cost is $100 per kid for all three days. The camp will be from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Campers need to bring cleats, tennis shoes and baseball equipment. Fundraiser:?The Ascension Mets will hold a jambalaya fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Walmart in Prairieville for $5 per plate. Delivery available for orders of 10 or more. Money raised will help with the team’s trip to Orange Beach, Alabama for the 2012 World Series.
