St. Amant hosts Dutchtown at The Pit Friday night, while East Ascension will celebrate homecoming against McKinley.

In the District 5-5A opening game for both teams, St. Amant enters with a four-game winning streak after starting the season with loss to Warren Easton. Meanwhile, Dutchtown makes the short trip across Ascension Parish with an undefeated record.

St. Amant has scored no less than 35 points in the last four games. Quarterback Tyler Guillory has led the way offensively. He has thrown for 472 yards. Running back Trey Washington leads the Gators in rushing with 387 yards and 12 total touchdowns. Ryan Cardinale has caught seven passes for 202 yards.

Dutchtown enters the game ranked second in the state Class 5A poll.

Dutchtown standout Landon Collins has shined at safety, running back and as a returner this season. As a part-time running back he has 563 yards on 31 carries (18.2 average) with 11 total touchdowns.

East Ascension stands at 4-1 heading into the first district game. The Spartans look to maintain the momentum from a win over Denham Springs last week.

Ascension Christian of Class 1A will travel to take on West St. John. The game marks the first District 9-1A match of the season for the Lions.

Donaldsonville of Class 3A will be on the road again this week. The Tigers will face St. Charles in the first District 7-3A match-up.

Ascension Catholic traveled to St. John on Thursday night in the first District 9-1A game of the season.
