Robyn Penn Delaney, President of the Ascension Parish NAACP, welcomed candidates to the evening’s forum.

Recently, the Ascension?Chapter of the NAACP held a political forum at East Ascension?High?School.

The forum allowed residents to hear what candidates running for local, parish, and state elections had to say as part of their political platforms.

Over 60 parish residents attended, and many felt that the event allowed them further insight into candidates.

Residents were able to listen as each candidate was given five minutes to say why he or she was the right choice on voting day.

The two-hour event saw over 20 candidates attend, and most seemed pleased with the opportunity to speak openly about their plans for their roles if voted into office.

Election day is Oct. 22, and all residents were urged to get out and make sure to have their votes counted.
