The Gonzales National All Stars U12 recently completed their season after making a great run through Sub-District, District and Regionals.

The Nationals went undefeated in sub-district play. District play was held at Franklinton and the Nationals only dropped one game on their way to the District Championship after beating the host Franklinton 13-2 in the finals.

That paved the way for them to arrive at the Regionals in Ponchatoula against teams from Ville Platte, Pontiff (New Orleans), Minden, Morgan City, Alexandria, Ponchatoula, Rayville.

The Nationals beat Minden 15-10 in the first round after falling behind 6-1 early.  The game was highlighted by a grand slam to the secure the victory.  They fell to Morgan City 6-2 and did not play their best.  They recovered and beat Rayville 7-2 to set up a big game against Ville Platte. Ville Platte had not given up a run in the tournament and had ten run ruled everybody to that point. The Nationals played a great game, was the first team to score on Ville Platte and not be run ruled. The final was 9-1.

Ville Platte went on to win the Regionals, they won state by a combined 22-0 over Jena and then went on to the World Series and was the last undefeated team and did not give up a run in the process. The Nationals finished in a tie for third in Regionals and made the top six in the State.

The coaches thank the City of Gonzales, Dixie Youth District Director Gilly Berthelot and all the fans and families.
