Contract awarded to prepare site for new school

Acadian Commercial Contractors LLC has been awarded a $1 million contract by the Ascension Parish School Board.

They will now begin preparing the site for a new school to replace George Washington Carver Primary, on land that formerly housed the Gonzales Country Club.

The School Board held a ground breaking for the new school on Tuesday afternoon.

Carver Primary School has been a long standing school in the area, but it was aqgreed that a new site would be cheaper to ready than making imrpvements to the existing structure.
