East Ascension graduate, and soldier stationed in Afghanistan, Chris Stinson, proudly displays the September 11 commemorative edition on the Weekly Citizen. He and fellow troop member SPC Meeks received the paper along with care packages from Ascension residents.

Vicky?Stinson, mother of Chris, her soldier son who is stationed in Afghanistan, stopped by the Weekly Citizen office this week to show us a photo her son and his fellow soldiers proudly showing off our recent paper commemorating Sept. 11, and a multitude of supplies sent to them from parish residents. Chris and his friends couldn’t wait to say thank you for all of the generosity shown to them by?Ascension. According to his mother, he has been greatly moved by the generosity of the area.

Vicky?Stinson has been working to collect supplies for her son and others who are currently deployed overseas. Her “Adopt a Unit” program has seen over 20 boxes already sent to the Afghan region.

Stinson reminds everyone to remember those men and women fighting for all of us overseas, and those stationed here at home to protect our freedom.
