Appreciation certificate awarded
Shirley Michel (center), with the QUAD Area Community Action Agency in Gonzales, received an Ascension Parish Certificate of Appreciation during the parish council meeting on Aug. 25 in Gonzales.

She was lauded for her dedication in helping low income people in the parish. QUAD Area was established in 1976 under the guidelines of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. It began with services to four parishes and has increased to seven parishes.
“Ms. Shirley has been with QUAD Area for 30 years and I can assure you she’s helped thousands and thousands of people during her 30-year span.” President Martinez said. “She’s done an excellent job and I know she knows everybody and who is in need. And when somebody comes to you, you’ve had the passion and have been very professional about helping them.”Matassa agreed. “Ascension Parish is so fortunate to have a lady like this for over 30 years,” Matassa said. “She has been unbelievable. She worked tirelessly.”
