Ascension hosts Tri-parish training

The fourth annual Tri-Parish (Ascension – Assumption & St. James) Justice of the Peace and Constable training session was held this week in Ascension Parish. Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley and his staff hosted the training session at the Sheriff’s Office Training Center.

 The Tri-Parish Justice of the Peace and Constable started this training in 2010 to continue to gain education on running the JP and Constable Offices, stated Ascension Constable James E. LeBlanc. Each training session, members of the 23rd District Attorney’s Office and the staff of the Louisiana Attorney General’s office attend the training session and teach courses.

This training session the Justice of the Peace & Constables from Ascension, Assumption and St. James received training in Garnishments, Evictions, Seizures, Process of civil papers and proper venue of serving papers.

Ascension Sheriff Jeff Wiley and Parish President Tommy Martinez also attended the training session in support of the continuing education. Captain Darren Crochet of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was also on hand for the training session.
