Lifelong resident Mikey Braud has announced his candidacy for District 4 Parish Councilman.   Braud, 47, was raised in St. Amant and has lived in Prairieville for the past 24 years.  He is a 1981 graduate of St. Amant High School.

Mike has been married to Karen Hays Braud for 23 years.  They are the parents of two sons: Landon, 20, and Payton, 15.  He is an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville.  Mike is employed as a planner and scheduler at Honeywell International in Geismar.  He has received a Perfect Attendance award all 12 years of his employment there.

"This parish is very important to me," Braud said.  "I will work hard to improve road and traffic conditions and to spend your hard-earned tax dollars wisely."

Over the past 20 years, Mike has served as a coach and referee for numerous baseball and basketball teams in the parish.  He and his wife, Karen, owned Honey Bear Day Care in Gonzales for more than 20 years.

"In spending time with the great people of District 4, it has become clear to me that voters are ready for a new voice and a new direction for the parish," Braud said.  "I want to be a voice for the people.  Ascension Parish is the best parish in Louisiana and, with the right leaders, our future is very bright."
