Parish readies to ‘Stuff the Bus’

Staff reports

Partnering once again with the Ascension Parish School Board,  Volunteer Ascension kicks off its 14th annual School Tools Program with “Stuff the Bus” on Wednesday, July 20 in the parking lots of Office Depot and Cane’s in Gonzales.

With this being the third year to participate with WBRZ’s program, the expectations are very high in Ascension Parish.  Sherry Denig, Executive Director of Volunteer Ascension states, “Last year the Ascension Parish team collected an amazing 69,782 school supplies in the one-day event.  I have to admit, the friendly competition between East Baton Rouge and Ascension has really stepped up our collection totals. Let’s just say our team is pretty competitive.   In Ascension, we love a challenge, and it’s officially on!  Plus, it’s all for a great cause, our kids.”

School supplies can be dropped off at the Office Depot or Cane’s in Gonzales now through July 20.  All clubs, organizations, businesses, families and individuals are encouraged to be a part of this parish-wide school supply collection.

All supplies collected during “Stuff the Bus” will be added to Volunteer Ascension’s “School Tools” collection which will take place on Saturday, July 30  from 8 a.m. until noon in front of Wal-Mart in Prairieville, Gonzales and Donaldsonville, and Office Depot in Gonzales.
