Seven St. Amant High School educators have received Ascension Fund grants for their school, just in time for the upcoming school year.

Heidi Frederic, Monique Malone, Lisa Morgan, Shanna Savoy, Jodie Signorelli, Dwayne Troy,  David Oliver, and Carla Thompson all applied, and received grants for projects devoted to the education of their students.

Over $8,000 in grant money has been awarded for projects including the use of cameras in performance, building communication skills, relating culture to curriculum, the use of iPads for discussion and debate, media and digital work, the exploration of books and how they relate to individual lives, and using the Nook to promote extended reading.

St. Amant principal Mia Edwards is thrilled with the response to the grant submissions.

“The teachers here go above and beyond for our students and winning an Ascension Fund grant is just one example of the types of things that they do to ensure that our students are successful learners,” she said.
